The Bride from Miramas Was Very Stressed

Are you wondering how to have wedding photos where you truly shine? As a Provence wedding photographer, I’ve seen first-hand what makes all the difference – and the answer lies in this story.

An Intimate Wedding in Miramas

A small Provençal wedding filled with charm

In June 2023, I had the privilege of photographing a small, intimate wedding in Miramas, in the west of the Bouches-du-Rhône. With only a handful of guests, it could almost be described as a romantic elopement in Provence.

The ceremony was followed by a reception in the breathtaking village of Miramas-le-Vieux – a stunning Provençal hilltop village that deserves a story of its own one day.

When Stress Affects Wedding Photos

A strange feeling during the first edits

Everything went smoothly during the day: no problems, just a wonderfully relaxed evening. Truly, nothing but happiness.

Back at home, I began selecting and editing the photos. At first, though, I had a strange feeling. The images were good – but nothing extraordinary.
Surprisingly, I even felt a little disappointed with my work. What had I missed? Why didn’t my photos reflect the magic I had witnessed?

Still, my job was to make the most of what I had: select the strongest shots, refine them, and deliver the best possible wedding gallery to my couple.

How emotions changed throughout the day

But the more I progressed through the selection, the more I realised something unexpected – my photos kept getting better and better. They felt warmer, more vibrant, more alive.

By the time I reached the evening shots, I was truly happy. These photos were filled with energy, laughter, even a touch of sensuality. They radiated joy.

In fact, they were some of the best images of the day – pictures I was genuinely proud of, and delighted to hand over to my couple.

At first, I didn’t think much more about it. But as I kept returning to the photos, reviewing them over and over while editing, I finally noticed what was happening.

Understanding the Power of Relaxation

The invisible link between emotion and photography

The beginning of the wedding coverage felt a little restrained – but as the day went on, the images became progressively more relaxed, natural, and full of life.

How the bride slowly relaxed — and it showed in every photo

After looking at each photo dozens of times, from every angle, and even letting them “rest” for a few days before coming back with fresh eyes, I understood the reason: the bride had started the day very stressed, but gradually, she relaxed and began to fully enjoy her wedding.

And that shift came across in the photos. Very clearly.

The Secret to Beautiful Wedding Photography in Provence

Be yourself — natural, confident, and full of joy

The moral of the story? For your wedding photos to look beautiful, radiant, natural and full of love, you need to feel beautiful, radiant, natural and full of love.

And above all, the key is to be as relaxed as possible.

Easier said than done, isn’t it?

As a wedding photographer in Provence, I can assure you that when you let go of stress and simply live the moment, your photos will capture that authenticity. Whether it’s a grand celebration in Marseille, an intimate wedding in Aix-en-Provence, or a romantic elopement in the Provençal countryside – your emotions are what truly bring your wedding photos to life.
