And then, there are the lavender fields—those violet expanses that turn every shot into a timeless masterpiece, perfect for a dream wedding abroad.
Why Are Lavender Field Weddings in Provence So Rare?
While lavender is the ultimate symbol of Provence, its blooming season is fleeting and highly localised. The fields are concentrated in specific areas—primarily around Aix-en-Provence, Vaucluse, Drôme, and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, particularly on the Valensole plateau. And even at their peak, the lavender blooms for just a few weeks each year.
As a result, I’ve yet to photograph an actual wedding in a lavender field. Frustrating? Perhaps. But it’s also an opportunity to create unique, breath-taking images through styled shoots—perfect for couples planning a destination wedding in France.

First challenge: despite the summer heat, the sky was overcast. This wasn’t an issue for the shoot—in fact, the softer light was a bonus. But for the final result, I had to edit the sky in post-production to restore its characteristic Provençal blue.

Sharp, saturated, and emotion-packed images with a cinematic feel.
To keep things balanced, I alternate with flash-free shots. These are much more natural, offering a soft, dreamy, almost fairy-tale-like effect. Two very different styles that coexist within the same session.
