I’ve always been a huge fan of film noir—particularly its aesthetic, those plays of light and shadow that create an atmosphere both mysterious and captivating, and those outfits that are at once striking and timeless.
For a long time, I’d wanted to recreate this artistic direction in a photographic project. So I did a portrait shoot inspired by film noir.
The result surpassed my expectations. Looking at these photos, you truly feel like you’re watching a 1940s American film noir. I was so pleased with the outcome that I even made a humorous reel using the original soundtrack from Laura (1944)—and those who follow me know I really struggle with reels!
But I wanted to go further: could this dramatic, sophisticated aesthetic work for a boudoir session?

To bring this vision to life, I worked with Chloé, a model I’d collaborated with before. She embraced the concept with elegant, sensual lingerie, perfect for embodying this mysterious and dominant character, this modern femme fatale.
The Femme Fatale Reveals Herself Gradually
As you may know, I like to start boudoir sessions dressed. This allows my model to ease into the experience gradually, without pressure—ideal for those who might be nervous before their destination wedding.
And in this particular case, this approach had a double advantage: it also allowed me to tell a story. That of a femme fatale trying to seduce her interlocutor—a hardboiled detective perhaps? To draw him in, manipulate him, make him dance like a puppet…
Chiaroscuro: The Visual Signature of Film Noir Applied to Boudoir Photography
Since we were doing the boudoir photoshoot in the evening, I had to use artificial lighting. This allowed me to easily achieve, with a directional LED lamp, an ultra-contrasted effect—almost chiaroscuro. This is the typical visual style of film noir that I was looking for in this Provence boudoir shoot.
Result: deep shadows, grazing lights, and a dramatic atmosphere that enhances every detail—the curves, the glances, and that impression of absolute control that every bride-to-be deserves to feel.

I have a confession to make: as a photographer, I struggle to see myself as an artist. Some photographers are undeniably artists—there’s no doubt about that—but me? I see myself as a craftsman: honest, conscientious, putting all my talent and know-how at the service of my clients, whether it’s for a destination wedding in the South of France or a boudoir session. I demand the best from myself every time; I treat each service as if my reputation depended on it.
But I don’t see myself as an artist.
